7 Things Children Need To Pack For A One-Day School Trip

Nothing is more exciting than taking your child on their very first school trip. But if you’re worried about making sure they have everything they need, we have the perfect guide for what to pack for a one-day school trip. Keep reading below:

Things to Pack for Kids

  • Water bottle

  • A reusable water bottle is great for keeping hydrated throughout the day, whether hiking or walking around the city

  • Sunblock

  • Even though it might seem like overkill, protecting yourself from the sun is important when spending time outdoors! Remember: even if it's cloudy outside (and especially if it's cloudy) sunscreen will help protect against harmful rays that could lead to sunburns or other skin damage later on in life.

  • A change of clothes

  • Be sure to pack extra clothes. You never know when your children will get wet or dirty, and it's better to have an extra set than not. Make sure the additional outfits for your kids are all appropriate for the weather (and activities). Remember that a school trip can be a day-long excursion, so it's important for kids to wear comfortable clothing that won't restrict movement or cause chafing.

  • Waterproof jacket

  • A waterproof jacket is a good idea for any outdoor activity, as it will keep children warm and dry in case of rain or snow. It’s important to have this type of outerwear on hand in case the weather turns unexpectedly cold or rainy.

  • Sunscreen lotion for kids

  • Sunscreen is essential. Don't forget to pack it. Make sure your children reapply throughout the day. Sunscreen should be applied liberally all over: the back of the neck, knees and even on the back of ankles.

  • Comfortable shoes

  • Don't forget to pack comfortable kids’ shoes. Even if the trip is only one day, make sure your children wear comfortable shoes that will last the entire day. Most field trips take place during the warm months of spring and summer, but there are always those days when someone gets caught out in the rain. Make sure you have a waterproof alternative available for your children so that your child's feet won’t get wet while outside soaking up all their educational experiences.

  • Lunch and snacks

  • Make sure your children's lunch or snacks won't spoil. This means that if you pack something that needs to be refrigerated, then make sure it's in an airtight container and is packed tightly enough so as to not leak or spill once you've added it to your child's backpack. If you're bringing a sandwich or other lunch meat option, wrap it in plastic wrap before placing it into their bag.

You should also provide snacks that share well and don't get gross after sitting out all day. Whether sharing is part of school policy or simply among friends, snacks should be able to stand up under scrutiny. Pack some fresh fruit like bananas and apples; these will keep their texture better than dried fruit like raisins which could end up soggy by lunchtime.

    Conclusion

A one-day school trip can be fun and wonderful for kids. But there's still preparation involved. You have to make sure with everything your children need in order to enjoy the day and make memories that will last forever.
